Golden-Crowned Lemur
Kingdom: Animilia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Primates
Family: Indriidae
Genus: Propithecus
Species: P.tattersalli
Bionomial Name: Propithecus tattersalli
Region: pacific islands; Northern Madagascar
Niche: Lemur live in trees eating seeds, shoots, unripe fruit, young and mature leaves and flowers.
They leap from tree to tree when they are active and sleep in the trees when they rest.
Habitat: They live in the dense dry forest in northern Madagascar. Their range can be 15-30 miles and they live in groups of 3-10 individuals.
Traits: 7.5 lbs-7.9 lbs, long tails 17 in-19 in, 35 in long,
They can be white, black, and/or cream in color.
They have an approximately 165 day gestation period and live to be 25-30 years.

Surviving After a Volcanic Eruption
Environment after: Most trees and brush will be burned down and food sources would be limited.
Habitat's looks: Few trees and brush will remain. There would be ash and obsidian covering a large area.
The trees that used to be available for foraging for food and sleep would be replaced by small brush.
Remaining traits: The Golden-Crowned Lemur will still have its strong legs, teeth, and yellow on the top of its head.
Adaptions: After the eruption the lemur would have a shorter tail, black fur, and be smaller in size. They would have a smaller range (10-20 miles) due to greater competition for food and lack of resources. Smaller animals usually have a shorter life span so the average life span would be 15-20 years. The Golden-Crowned Lemur wouldn't need a long tail because of the change in the environment. The long tail that was used to hold onto the tree branches would not be necessary any more. Because of the limited food resources, they would develop a smaller size. They would learn to nest closer to the ground and need to blend into the coloring of the environment to escape predators.
New trait variations: 6 lbs-6.9 lbs, 12 in-15 in long (not counting tail), tail 8 in-10 in, dark brown and/or black fur
Natural selection: There will be more black lemurs with short tails than dark brown with long tails. Most lemurs would be closer to 6 lbs than 6.9 lbs due to the limited resources and the need to adjust to a life on the ground instead of in the trees.

How I Think It Will look (As Close As I Could Find)
I am aware this is a black lemur and I think that it would be a similar look to how the evolution of the Gold-Crowned Lemurs could be after a volcanic eruption. The new lemur would have gold on the top on its head and no frizz on the sides.
